How to Keep Dried Flower Arrangements Looking Their Best
Care for your everlasting blooms
Dried flowers are a way of keeping the garden close long after the season has passed. Though they need little attention, a few small habits will help them stay beautiful.
Light and Placement
Keep your arrangement out of direct sunlight, which fades colors, and away from humidity, which can cause drooping or mildew. A cool, dry spot is best — think shelf, sideboard, or mantel.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Dust gently with a soft paintbrush or a hairdryer set to cool. Avoid touching or moving the stems too often; they’re delicate and can snap easily.
If your bouquet starts to lose shape, swap in a few new stems. Statice, strawflower, and grasses mix beautifully with older pieces to keep things feeling fresh.
Refresh or Retire
Eventually, all dried flowers fade. When that happens, compost them and start again — it’s a small, satisfying ritual that keeps your home tied to the rhythm of the seasons.
