Finding The Perfect Farrow & Ball White Paint
Last Fall we started work on the exterior of the house. We replaced the roof with a grey standing seam metal one after realizing the roof was completely shot. We also removed the old aluminum siding and repaired the old wood siding underneath. By the time all the work was done we only had a few weeks left to paint the house before it got too cold. We hastily picked out a fresh, clean, cool white and got started painting the lower half of the house, then winter was here. That’s when we realized our mistake, the fresh white color we picked no longer looked fresh and white against the winter snow. Our house was painted a bright vibrant cold icy blue. It looked just awful. We sort of knew it wasn’t right when we first got started but we didn’t realize how wrong it was until we were halfway done.
Now that Fall is approaching again and the weather is cooling off we’re getting ready to get painting again, this time we think we have found our perfect true white- Farrow & Ball’s All White No.2005. This is a pure white, no added pigments, no warm or cool tones, a perfect white. We considered Strong White No.2001 but it had a sublet purplish grey hue. Now, we cross our fingers and hope it looks as good as the swatch we painted on the side of the house.
