Who We Are

Welsummer Farm is a small flower farm in Freehold, New York, run by David Krause and Ayan Chatterjee. The farm sits on a historic homestead that we’ve restored with care, bringing the house and land back to life and creating a place centered on beauty, attention, and good work.

Our name has two meanings. It references the Welsummer hen, known for its richly colored eggs, and it also reflects the feeling we hope people experience when they bring our flowers or eggs home, a sense of a well-lived summer. Vibrant days, easy evenings, small celebrations, and the kind of joy that comes from simple things done well.

We grow flowers with a focus on quality, longevity, and sustainable land care. Our no-till, soil-centered approach supports strong, vibrant blooms that hold up beautifully in arrangements. We choose varieties for their presence and color, aiming for flowers that bring warmth and brightness into a space.

Our seasonal bouquets are available at local farmers markets and through small farm releases. We also offer wedding flowers and services, from curated buckets to full floral design, using the stems we grow here in Freehold.

Our flock of hens, including Welsummers, wander the property and provide the eggs we sell, known for their rich, flavorful yolks.

Everything we offer reflects the care we put into this land and the life we’ve made on it. If you’re nearby, we’d love to share what’s in season.
